An 86-year-old woman in Romania is the one-millionth person to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. She received the vaccine from Dr. Valeriu Gheorghita, the national vaccination campaign coordinator at the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital, according to Agerpres.
The Prime Minister, Florin Citu, who also attended the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital, gave the assurance that „things will go much faster from now on in terms of the vaccination pace.”
„This is a moment we have been waiting for a long time to see happen, since December 27. We have the 1,000,000th person vaccinated in Romania. In order to successfully carry out the vaccination campaign, we need to continue to comply with health protection rules,” said the Prime Minister.
„We still have in place the 10.4 million vaccinated Romanians target for the end of September. The vaccination campaign is going well, we are at the top of Europe, always among the top three countries, and we will make sure that we will continue like this,” said Citu.
