Romania‘s National Institute of Statistics (INS) stated on Monday that the country’s trade deficit rose by €3.08bln year-on-year in the first eight months of 2021 to an estimated €14.6bln, according to See News.
„Exports increased by an annual 24.4% and imports rose 24.9% on the year in January-August,” said INS in a statement.
The European Union absorbed 72.9% of Romania’s exports in the period under review and accounted for 72.8% of the country’s imports.
Machinery and transport equipment accounted for 46.7% of Romanian exports and 36% of imports, while other manufactured goods made up 30.5% of exports and 30.1% of imports during the first eight months of 2021.
