Romania’s consumer prices rose by 8.8% on the year in September, following a 9.4% annual increase in August, the national statistical office, INS, said on Thursday, according to See News.
The average inflation rate over the last twelve months was 12.6%, INS said in a statement.
Food prices jumped by 10.36% year-on-year in September, while non-food prices increased 6.68%. Prices of services grew by 12.1%.
In September, Romania’s consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.79% compared to the previous month, with service prices rising by 1.06%, non-food prices increasing by 1%, and food prices edging up by 0.33%.
Earlier this month, Romania’s central bank decided to keep its key rate unchanged at 7%.
