Romania‘s President Klaus Iohannis will attend a meeting on Wednesday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace as the COVID-19 pandemic gets out of control, according to Euractiv.
The meeting will include government officials and health authorities involved in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic as the death toll hit a new record high of 574 COVID-related deaths on Tuesday.
“The lack of concrete action by the authorities is alarming, and today’s figures, unfortunately, confirm that what should have been done so far has not been done,” said Iohannis in a statement on Tuesday.
Iohannis stated that he would convene a meeting to set new clear restrictive measures to reduce the spread of infections at this time, hinting that new lockdowns could be on the way.
