President of the Republic of Moldova pays an official visit to Romania

The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu was welcomed by the Romanian Head of State, Klaus Iohannis on Tuesday at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace in Bucharest, according to Agerpres. 

Sandu paid an official visit to Bucharest, answering an invitation extended by her Romanian counterpart in the context of the 30th anniversary since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Republic of Moldova’s Head of State stated that Romania has firmly supported the Republic of Moldova’s economic, political, diplomatic, cultural and educational terms and she explained that the support has been felt by the citizens.

„We are all dedicated to strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova and advancing the reform processes. Romania and the Republic of Moldova are united by an extremely strong link and they share the same language, culture and history,” said Iohannis.

„We want the Republic of Moldova to develop according to a European model to benefit its citizens. Romania will also remain the closest friend of the Republic of Moldova,” added Iohannis at the Cotroceni Palace, in a joint press statement with the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.

„Romania has been our most important trading partner for many years. Most of our exports go to Romania. We want this partnership to grow and we will take care, including through judicial reforms to make the Republic of Moldova a safe and attractive place for investment,” stated Sandu.

„I want to send a message to investors, the Republic of Moldova is changing, our state will become more efficient, more transparent, more business-friendly, so we are waiting for you to come to the Republic of Moldova,” added Sandu 

She pointed out that her official visit to Bucharest represents further proof of the special relationship that the Republic of Moldova has with Romania.
