Palcohol, powdered alcohol manufactured by Lipsmark LLC has been approved in the USA
Palcohol is a powder that turns any beverage into an alcoholic one. It will come in different varieties: Cosmopolitan, Lemon Drop, Powderita, Vodka and Rum.
On Tuesday, the USA Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) approved Palcohol. It could appear on the shelves starting this summer.
It is not the first time when the makers try to get it approved. In the previous year, it sparked a lot of controversy because it could be abused in order to spike drinks, sprinkle on food, etc.
South Carolina, Vermont and Louisiana banned it last year. Washington, Ohio, Mississippi and several other states are considering the same decision, but New York, Florida and California have no laws prohibiting its distribution.
The TTB took this decision due to the fact that Palcohol is in accordance with the FDA standards. Last summer, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration stated that the ingredients in said product are no cause for concern and there is no legal basis to block it.
