Romania’s Prime Minister Florin Cîțu fired Health Minister Vlad Voiculescu on Wednesday and has appointed Deputy Prime Minister Dan Barna as interim Health Minister to lead the Ministry of Health until a new minister is appointed, according to politico.eu.

Cîțu also announced that Andreea Moldovan State Secretary of the Health Ministry has been fired as Moldovan published new criteria for quarantining an area without informing the Prime Minister.

„Today, April 14, I submitted to President Klaus Iohannis the papers to dismiss Mr Vlad Voiculescu of his official duties as Health Minister. Mr Dan Barna will be acting as Health Minister in the interim until the appointment of a new minister who will lead the Ministry of Health. At the same time, I decided to dismiss Andreea Moldovan from her senior position at the Ministry of Health, and the decision will be published in the Official Journal today,” said Cîțu on Wednesday in a memo to the government.

In another setback, three COVID-19 patients died on Monday after the oxygen supply at a mobile intensive unit where they were being treated stopped working, shutting down ventilators. Even though the hospital is managed by the city hall, the blame fell on the minister according to universul.net.
