Bulgaria‘s gas-network operator, Bulgartransgaz said it has halted the transport of natural gas to Romania, Serbia and Hungary after a pipeline rupture, according to RFE/RL.
Bulgartransgaz announced on Monday that an emergency occurred early in the morning near the northeastern village of Vetrino and crews were trying to replace a section of the gas pipeline as soon as possible.
„Gas transport to Romania was automatically cut off and later partially restored, but supply to Serbia and Hungary had been suspended,” stated Bulgartransgaz.
Bulgaria transports Russian gas through its gas network to Serbia and Hungary.
In Bosnia-Herzegovina, Sarajevogas, the main gas distributor for the capital, announced gas supplies would be rationed and service suspended to consumers able to use alternative sources of energy.
