Over 36 kg of heroin were seized from a police officer in St. Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia (north-west), during an operation that targeted an important group of drug traffickers, announced local law enforcement on Tuesday, according to AFP.
The heroin, which was in two big sacks on a balcony, was discovered during a raid at the residence of a lieutenant colonel of the Transport Police, in the former imperial capital of Russia, announced the Regional Department for fighting against drug trafficking, according to a press release.
The police officer, suspected of being involved in drug trafficking that would amount to dozens of kilograms of heroin per month, and two other traffickers were arrested, according to the release.
