All flights have been suspended and the main road that leads to the airport has been closed, a press release shows.
“We advise passengers to contact their airline company to find out what is going to happen with their flights” she added.
Located approximately 50 km north-west of London, Luton is the 5th largest British airport, with 9.7 million passengers last year.
