North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has undergone surgery to remove a cyst from his ankle, announced on Tuesday South Korean intelligence services, quoted by the Yonhap agency, AFP informs.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) explained to the deputies that the medical problem was discovered in May and that foreign doctors were brought to Pyongyang to perform the surgery, stated the Yonhap agency, which quoted the deputies from the opposition and from the majority.
The NIS also informed the parliamentarians that the North Korean leader has downgraded approximately 200 officers and that 50 people have been executed in North Korea since the beginning of the year.
From early September to the 14th of October, the North Korean leader completely disappeared from the public scene, after which he reappeared, holding a cane. This absence fueled speculations regarding his health and a coup d’etat in Pyongyang.
