The European Commission (EC) said on Thursday that it has approved Romania’s 500 million euro scheme to support companies operating in the field of tourism, accommodation and food services affected by the Covid-19 outbreak, according to seenews.com

The EC approved the measure under the state aid temporary framework. The measure aims at helping the beneficiaries address their liquidity needs and continue their activities during and after the outbreak.

The public support in the form of direct grants will cover up to 20% of the loss of revenue (or in the case of certain travel agencies applying a special scheme, the volume of invoices issued for tourist services including the margin) registered between January 1 and December 21, 2020, compared to the same period in 2019.
