ANM issued a Yellow Code, rains and snowfalls expected this weekend

The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) issued on Friday a  Yellow Code for moderate snowfall and blizzard in 16 counties, as of Saturday morning according to stiripesurse.ro.

Snowfall and cold weather are forecasted for this weekend. The first alert for mixed falls, strong wind, snowfalls and blizzard are in the mountains in the northern and northwestern areas. All other regions will experience the cold front from Saturday March 6, announced by ANM, according to romaniajournal.ro

The counties under the Code Yellow are: Arges, Bacau, Bistrita-Nasaud, Brasov, Buzau, Covasna, Dambovita, Harghita, Maramures, Mures, Neamt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Valcea and Vrancea.

Rains will prevail in the low-lying areas, and snowfalls in Maramures, Moldova and Transylvania. Mixed falls will be in Oltenia, Muntenia and Dobrogea.

The wind will intensify with gusts of 70 – 90 km/h, and at over 1,700-m altitude the gusts will exceed 100 km/h and there will be a blizzard, while the visibility will be reduced.
